Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She works as an ESPN anchor for news and also hosts SportsNation occasionally. Since 2016, Collins has joined ESPN. She's the daughter of TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her skills were instrumental in helping her land her first position as an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of numerous shows, including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her first job was as an reporter at CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, she relocated into Rio Grande Valley to work as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Covering stories related to drugs and immigration issues on both sides the Texas-Mexico Border, she served as an anchor on the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5 pm. She was an anchor for the news channel with a news anchor in English for 9 pm, then a news anchor for 10pm before returning to channel Spanish channel. The duties of anchoring on sports and weather was also frequently asked for. Then she anchor and wrote on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She did pieces on Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was host of the local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was promoted to sports anchor on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. The same role, she worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta's parents come from Veracruz Mexico. In Mexico City she was conceived on the 22nd of November, 1985. There is also an older sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. The couple divorced shortly after and in 1995 her mother was remarried to one of the naval architects called Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in the year 2006. The summer in 2006 she spent one week with her sibling in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl worked at the time. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school, but she had a clear idea of her career goals. She visited Mount Union University to determine if they suited her. Then she fell in love with the campus. And they offered her major. Her studies were completed and she was accepted into the University for a master's degree in media studies. Professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was a member of the class, established an ongoing relationship with her. His passion for journalism and confidence in herself inspired her. In turn, she, tried to meet his expectations and never fail him.
