Finch began playing softball at the age of five. Doug, Doug's father, was her first pitching instructor. Jennie at the time, aged just 10 when she started, was the first to utilize the Finch Windmill which was a hand conditioning device invented by Doug. She pitched 13 no-hitters and six perfect games in high school. Her next destination was University of Arizona. She became a three time All-American and was also an First Baseman. The Honda Award, given to the best softball players in America during 2001 when the Wildcats were awarded the title of champions in national competition and then in 2002 was clinched by her. Wounded warrior amputee softball (WWAST) is a collective consisting of amputees who have a purpose to increase awareness and collect funds by playing exhibition games, celebrity softball teams, and other activities that showcase the bravery and sacrifices of our servicemen and women and how they can overcome every obstacle. We aim to prove to other amputees, and to people in general that with rehab and intense training, the athletes can communicate their feelings and participate in the game they are passionate about.
